LVT self-adhesive flooring ≠ LVT dry-back flooring. They are two different products, but are often confused.
LVT dry-back flooring: There is no adhesive on the back of the flooring. Specialized flooring adhesive must be purchased separately and applied to the floor by the installer. This is the mainstream method for professional commercial installations.
LVT self-adhesive flooring: The flooring is pre-coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back and covered with a release liner. Installation simply requires removing the release liner and attaching it directly to the floor. Its main selling point is ease of installation.

A. Extremely convenient installation, DIY-friendly. The biggest selling point. No need to mix adhesives or use specialized tools (scrapers, etc.), eliminating the most complex and messy steps.

The structure of Self-Adhesive LVT flooring.
Its uniqueness lies in its pre-coated adhesive layer design, which significantly distinguishes its structure from other types of LVT (such as dry-back and click-lock).
1. Abrasion Layer: The abrasion layer thickness is generally between 0.15-0.3mm, belonging to the light to medium level for residential applications, far lower than commercial dry-back LVT.
2. Decorative Layer: Material: High-definition printed PVC film.
3. Core Layer: This is one of the key differences from dry-back/click-lock LVT.
4. Pre-coated Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Layer - Core Layer
Material: Acrylic or rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive. This is a "permanent tack" adhesive that generates bonding force under pressure, unlike liquid adhesives which require curing.
Advantages: Provides immediate initial tack, easy installation.
Disadvantages: Bond strength (adhesion) is far lower than that of specialized liquid floor adhesives applied on-site. It requires extremely high cleanliness and smoothness of the substrate; long-term performance is greatly affected by environmental temperature and humidity.
5. Release Paper (Isolation Film)
Material: Silicone-coated paper or plastic film.
Before choosing self-adhesive flooring, consider the following three conditions:
Usage Scenario: Is it a temporary, low-traffic, non-core living area?
Substrate Condition: Is the subfloor smooth, firm, and dust-free for proper adhesion?
Expectations: Is it intended as a transitional solution for 3-5 years, rather than a permanent, one-time renovation?
If the answer to all of the above is "yes," then self-adhesive flooring is a cost-effective and convenient option.
If the answer to any of the above is "no," it is strongly recommended to consider more reliable click-lock SPC flooring (for residential use) or professionally adhesive dry-back LVT (for commercial use).
